Sound the ALARM, Josh is 29 - Literally!

This morning at 2:55 am, we were awakened by our smoke detectors going off. (--Let me just say, newer isn't always better: We have those new smoke alarms that are hard-wired in the house, so they never need the batteries to be replaced. Their internal batteries are constantly being recharged.--) With that said, Josh would have slept through it, if I hadn't frantically wokeen him just before it stopped. For a minute, I didn't hear anything from the boys room, so I thought maybe they slept through it too. But then I heard their door. Kaden was scared and Versii woke up then too. While Josh was getting some milk for Versii to calm him down, the alarm went off again at 3:00 am. LOUD, PIERCING sounds are not soothing during the night...if ever! I hate being woken up to an alarm clock that buzzes! I have to be woken up to music or...well, Versii crying is my current alarm clock. ---But back to the story: Mom woke up too and came to investigate. No smoke, no fire! That was a blessing, but then the alarm went off again, at 3:05 am! Josh says maybe we are being reminded to prepare for something in the future...I hope that's not the case. At any rate Versii started screaming and when he calmed down we tried to put the boys in bed. Versiiimmediately started having a tantrum and I thought I would rock him for a bit. I rocked him until I thought he fell asleep and when I tried to lay him down again, he's eyes flew open and he started screaming. He screamed and cried from his room for an hour. Saying things like, "Mommy, I poo poo. Diker change, diker change....Mommy! Mommy!" I finally went to investigate and he had not pooed, like he said, but I rocked him some more. Again I tried to put him in his crib and the screaming started. To save everyone in the family from the retched sound, I finally brought him to bed with us. That was 5 am. ---Somehow Kaden managed to fall back to sleep amid the screaming and Paxton slept through it all...well almost. I had to feed him around 4:30 am. ---Anyway,se. Happy Birthday to Joshua! What a way to wake up on your birthday! I hope your day gets better...we're going to let you sleep in! It really is lucky that you have the day off of school!

Who does he look like?

Well, unfortunately, we don't have any pictures of Joshua at 4 months. But Mom found my 4 months pictures and I think we have a winner.

Paxton really does look a lot like I did as a baby.

And everyone is always commenting that Versii looks like a little Joy.

I can't wait to see who Paxton looks like when he gets older. Maybe he'll start to look more like Joshua.

Paxton is such a sweet baby.

Personality wise, he's Versii's opposite:

He sleeps through the night - Versii still doesn't.

He loves diaper changes - Versii fights them.

It will be fun to see how he is when he's Versii's age.

Angela & Skee's Wedding September 19th

My friend Angela was married on September 19th out in Parkdale, Oregon on Three Rocks Farm. (It's about an 1 and a 1/2 hour drive from us.) And Versii did not nap all day. But we still managed to have an enjoyable time. Thank goodness it was outdoors and Versii stayed pretty excited about running all over.

Funny story: I've known Angela since the 4th grade and she lived just down the street. She hated me back then, because she thought I was getting special attention from our teacher, "Mr. T" as we called him. She was so mad about it, that she actually blacked my face out in her yearbook. ---But, we ended up becoming friends and here we are over a decade later and we still like each other. :) She's one of my oldest friends and I love her.

Some September Shots

Sep. 5th - Here are all my boys. Kaden (age 6), Paxton (14 weeks), and Versii (age 2)

Sep. 7th - Kaden showing off the Lego helicopter he built. Versii calls helicopters, "he ca ca."

Sep. 8th - Our big 1st Grader: Kaden's 1st day of school. And here's Versii...having a tantrum because he didn't get to go.

Sep. 8th - Paxton playing in his new jumper. He was very interested in all the new toys.

Versii got to help drop Kaden off on his 2nd day and see his classroom. I don't think he wanted to leave.

Sep. 9th -

Kaden's 2nd day of school. I didn't bring the camera on the first day, so here he is at his desk and with his teacher, Mr. Hess.

These two pictures are so funny, since it looks like Versii is picking his nose and then eating his buggers. He's actually not, but I've seen him do it before.

My Aunt Becky got him the little sweater vest. She got Kaden and Versii matching sweaters too, which I put on them last week, but I didn't have the time to get pictures of all of them together before church.

Oaks Park Summer Reading Reward

The boys were part of the library's Summer Reading Program and as part of completion, they all got coupons for $4 ride bracelets at Oaks Park. Kaden had a lot of fun, but Versii didn't want to ride on any of the rides. We finally got him to go on the motorcycle ride, but as you can see from the pictures, he wasn't even that pleased to be riding. I couldn't even get the kid to ride on the carousel with me. He just only wanted to look at everything. And then I got him to go on the Lewis and Clark ride with Kaden and I. He sat on my lap, but most of the ride was dark and there was a creepy mechanical bear inside...he almost started crying at the end and when we were getting off he just kept saying, "No Bear! No Bear! No Bear..." The poor kid was traumatized. ---I think next year, we'll just send Josh and Kaden. They would have a lot of fun then!

Oh, the one ride Versii did like was the train that took us around the park. He loves trains and at the end, he figured if he didn't look at us, he wouldn't have to get off.
