April: Clearwater Beach in Florida

April 12: We landed late at night into Orlando, Florida.  The plan was to drive to Tampa and stay the night in an Airbnb and then spend the next day at Busch Gardens.  We got to the house in Tampa around midnight, and as we drove into the neighborhood we could tell it was kind of a sketchy area.  The next door neighbors had their TV set up on the front lawn playing video games in lawn chairs. The house had an alarm system and they had tried to decorate it nicely.  But the beds were hard and they didn't even bother to take the original mattress plastic off before they made the beds.  So it was both loud and extremely uncomfortable.  After the accident, my body and back just can not handle a bad bed.  So I tried to make the best of it and line my side of the bed with pillows to sleep on.  Then around 3am, there were men talking right outside our window and by 5am Josh had decided we were not staying there any longer.  So we all got up and packed up to find something else.  We tried Comfort Suites first, because I have always had a good bed there, but they were sold out.  We ended up finding a room at the Hyatt Regency in Clearwater, Florida.  And they allowed us to check in right away, so we ordered some room-service breakfast and then all slept until the afternoon.  We got a great room overlooking the pool and the ocean.

Our hotel is the pink one.
April 13th: We rescheduled our day at Busch Gardens and just enjoyed relaxing and exploring Clearwater Beach.
Clearwater Beach is on the Gulf side of the ocean and the water was warm.  A little cool when you first step in, but very comfortable temperature to play in...and a million times warmer than the Oregon coast.

The boys had fun playing in the pool.

Waiting for our lunch to be delivered poolside.

Beautiful sunset view from our hotel room.
***Not my photo***But I saw this photo online of Pier 64 on Clearwater Beach and just loved it!
We had hoped we might be there for sunset, but didn't quite make it ourselves.

Walking along the waterfront, we saw a pirate ship and the Shark ship.
