Sledding with Dad

Snow!

November 9, 2012 - Friday - The boys went out early before school to build a snowman, with a mohawk, even though we didn't have much snow.

On Saturday, November 10th, we had a lot of snow fall overnight.
Josh and I took the kids to the store to buy: a snow shovel, proper snow gloves and a sled.
And then we all spent hours playing out in the snow.
 Sledding.
And we attempted to start building an igloo, which ended up as more of a snow fort.  Paxton spent his time trying to destroy it with his stick.
I love this picture of Josh and our boys.  The expressions on their faces are priceless!

Leaf Zombies

November 3, 2012 - Check out the video of my little "Leaf Zombies."
I think the way they chose to end it is cute.

Leaf Jumpin'

November 1, 2012 - Versii and I were out raking the leaves.  After we had a pile started, he wanted to start jumping in them.  So he ran and got his brothers and they had the best time jumping over and over into our small pile of leaves.

November 3, 2012 - A few days later we decided to tackle the backyard.  All the boys helped compile the leaves.  And the leaf pile was considerably larger.  Again...they jumped and played for a long time.

Trick or Treat 2012

October 31, 2012 - Trick or Treating with the Wescott's.
Left to Right: Gavin, Versii, Kaden, Sky and Paxton
I layered the kids clothes underneath their costumes, to stay warm, out of habit...but the weather couldn't have been more perfect for the occasion.  It wasn't rainy and it wasn't cold.  The kids had a great time!

Josh met up with us in the middle of our candy raid.  Someone at his work painted his face like that...they have some real talent at the Skin Science Institute.
And Kaden pooped out after about an hour...when just earlier in the night he said an hour and a half wouldn't be enough time.  Funny kid!

Our Kindergarten Cop at School

October 31, 2012 - On Halloween, the kindergarteners were allowed to wear their costumes.  And parent volunteers were allowed to bring younger siblings along.  So I volunteered in Versii's class all day...and fulfilled 10% of my volunteer quota.  At the boys school, parents are required to volunteer 30 hours per year.
Paxton and I had a lot of fun helping out.
And it was fun to watch Versii learn and interact with his classmates.

All the students went to the gym for a special Halloween assembly, where Spiderman jumped out from a real casket.  I wish you could feel and hear the excitement that was going on at that moment, the kids loved it!

Learning...

October 29, 2012 - Practicing flashcards with Versii.
I love this picture of him!  He's learning so much in Kindergarten.  They've already reviewed: all their phonograms, started reading short words, learned about their senses, reviewed the continents and oceans, how to count to 100, basic math of adding doubles and adding 1's, the directions on a compass...just to name a few.  I feel like this charter school is really teaching them a lot, although, they may be moving a little fast for Versii.  He needs extra practice at home with his flashcards.  I'm not going to lie, it's hard to get him to focus and practice willingly...but during those times when he's willing, it's great to see him learn.
I have been starting to teach Paxton, at home.
We're been reviewing colors, the alphabet song, the numbers 1-5 and he can recognize about 14 lowercase letters.  Plus he's learned his left and right.  He says, "This hand's my right hand and this hand's my wrong hand.  Left is wrong."

Our First Snow

October 25, 2012 - Our first snowfall since we moved to Utah.  Coming from Oregon, the boys were only able to experience snow on a rare occasion.  They were so excited, they could hardly wait to get outside.  They insisted on waiting out in the cold for their ride to school.  They said of cold, "We don't feel a thing!"

Admiring the North Rim

October 21, 2012 - After Flagstaff, we went on to see the Grand Canyon's North Rim.  Above are the views we passed along the way.
Neither Josh or I had ever been to the Grand Canyon's North Rim.  The views are spectacular!  I think we were able to capture some great shots, but to see it in person is just breathtaking!

It was a little chilly with the breeze.
The sunset was absolutely amazing!  The camera can not even begin to capture it's true beauty...but we tried anyway.
