The main floor bathroom was in need of an update as well. The tub was an old cast iron tub, painted white and peeling and the only towel bar in the bathroom was hung inside the shower...not a good location at all.
Josh and his brother tore out everything in the bathroom, including the hall closet, so we could have additional storage inside the bathroom.
Josh and I tiled the bathroom ourselves, with the exception of the floor. I even grouted the glass tiles...and I must say I did a fabulous job!
The only original items we kept are the silver built-in swivel toothbrush holder (pictured above in the bottom right), the fan and the ceiling light.
Here is the current state of our bathroom. All we have left to do is to finish texturing, caulking and painting. It's going to be beautiful when it's all complete!

Since you already have a tub, adding a chromotherapy mood light kit could surely bring in the spa-experience.
