Family Campout at Lost Lake

September 12, 2015
We met our friends Sam and Danielle out at Lost Lake for a family camp out.  Usually, I send the boys off to camp and I stay home alone to relax... This was the first time I've been camping with my boys in a long time.  Anyway, by the time we got to camp it was dark and we had to hike all our gear 300 feet into our "Yome".  The "Yomes", also known as yurts, at Lost Lake do not have electricity or mattresses.  ---Most of the yurts or cabins Josh has ever rented have had electricity and all of them have had mattresses, you just have to provide your own bedding.  Lost Lake's yurts cost the most and have the least amenities.  And every campground we've stayed at, until this one, has had fully functioning plumbing and showers.  This campground only had a single, permanent port-a-potty about a good 100 yards from our sight.  Don't get me wrong, Lost Lake is a beautiful place, but if we ever stay there again, we will be renting a cabin for sure!  We slept horribly for a number of reasons: the sleeping pads we brought did not provide sufficient padding; someone's child, in a Yome nearby, had a full out crying/screaming tantrum for a good 45 minutes and after that; the coyotes yipped for another long period of time.  We had planned to stay 2 nights, but one night was enough, so we just decided to stay for the rest of the day.  We had a great day together!

We rented paddle boats and rowed around the lake.
 Danielle and Sam kayaking.

A short video clip of Kaden rowing.

The boys enjoyed playing in the water.

Paxton enjoying a s'more after lunch.

Our "Yome"...this one was basically a glorified tent with a locking door.
