Matt and Crystal Visit

 June 16, 2016
Josh's good friend Matt, Crystal and their darling baby Penelope flew up to visit us.  She is just the sweetest, happiest baby I have ever met.  You fall in love with her instantly!
Matt, Crystal and baby P went out exploring Portland, while the boys and I went to the Wilson's for their annual Start of Summer All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream party.  Our host Swati, was not kidding either.  She hired an ice cream truck to come to her house, they stamped everyone's hands and then we could ask for anything and eat as many as we wanted.  I lost track of how many ice creams and popsicles the boys had.  But they had a great time!
Swati's son, Kavi, is on the far right.  He and Kaden are friends and I met his mom Swati while volunteering at the long jump pit last year during track season.  She is such a sweet woman and so much fun!
Also, behind their house, is a beautiful green space with a large walking path.  We all went walking in-between the many ice creams.  Thanks again Swati!  You are amazing!

Paxton is ready and excited to start learning to play the guitar, just like Dad.

Here is a little video of Josh teaching him to strum the strings.  After he gets that down, Josh said he'll start teaching him chords.

While the boys played, Matt and Crystal escaped for a quick dinner date alone and baby P napped in my arms.  I love snuggling with her.

We all went out to Portland for the day, minus Kaden who was tired and wanted to just stay home and hang out.
Crystal and I ready to go.
 The boys and Penelope.
We went for a ride on Portland's Aerial Tram.
 Matt, Crystal and P

Typical gray cloud Portland day, but still beautiful!

While we were on the tram, we could see Cavalia's Big Top Tent getting ready to go up.  We're going to the show in July and so excited!  We saw it the first time it was in Portland and it was amazing!

After the tram, we hit up this little place in Portland, called Ground Breakers.  Matt is a total foodie and loves trying new places when he comes to town.  For those of you that are gluten-free, their entire menu is for you!  I am not either, but the food was amazing!
I ordered pan roasted pork chop with sweet potato mash, raspberry sauce and asparagus.  Every bite was absolutely delicious!

And after eating, we went to OMSI.  Crystal and I took P to the baby area and she loved playing in the tiny ball pit.

Standing in front of Portland's newest bridge, Tillicum Crossing.  The bridge is strictly for Portland's mass transit, like light rail and bus, and is only open for public use by bicyclists and pedestrians.

Father's Day!  Crystal and I got up early and made an egg, sausage and hash brown casserole for the guys for breakfast. Later in the day, we visited Portland's Alberta Art district and finally had ice cream at the popular Salt & Straw.  All the flavors we tried were delicious.  I had Sea Salt and Caramel Ribbons and it was good!

Versii made Josh this framed picture of himself.
And painted this picture on canvas.
This was his card: To The Best Catch Ever!
Paxton made this shirt card and a puzzle and gift certificates.  But I love his questionnaire!  He got his age right, but I have to laugh about how Josh is only 4'8" and 60 pounds!  Too funny!

The day before, at the boys request, I made lemon blueberry cheesecake squares from scratch as a Father's Day treat.  They are devine, but they take a long time to prepare!
Everyone who visits always seems to want a picture of Mt. Hood from our driveway.  It really is breathtaking!
Later in the day, we drove along the Columbia river and stopped to play on the shore for a bit.

My last few hours with P...or so I thought ;)
The day Matt and Crystal were scheduled to leave, but their flight was overbooked so they decided to take a credit and fly out the next day.
Paxton just adored P!  He would read to her and sing to her and just hung out near her almost all of the time.  It was so sweet!
