Surprise Trip to Utah

 June 3, 2016
Mom bought tickets for Versii, Paxton and I to fly to Utah so we could visit my Grandma.  The idea came about when Paxton was talking to Mom and Grandma on Mother's Day over FaceTime and said, "I wish I could fly to Utah and stay for 2 days."  So as soon as Mom saw there was a special on Alaskan Air, she called to see if I might be interested in going.  Of course, we said yes!  Thanks Mom!  Then we decided that it would be fun to just let the trip be a complete surprise to the boys.  We managed to keep it a secret!  Mom and I loaded our luggage in the truck and then picked up the boys a little early from school.  They kept saying, "Why are you picking us up early?  Where are we going?"  "It's a surprise!", we told them.  I figured they might know when we were almost to the airport, but all they could say is, "Why are we going to the airport...oh, we must be picking someone up!"  ---They had no idea!  Even when we pulled up to the passenger drop-off and Mom said, "Ok, we'll see you later!" They just looked at her with blank faces and then in concerned voices they said, "Wait, you're leaving us here?!"  It wasn't until we walked inside that Paxton exclaimed, "Wait!  Are we flying on an airplane?"
It was too funny!  Although it wasn't their first flight ever, they both have been on flights as small babies, this was the first flight they are old enough to remember.  They were pretty excited!

We met up with Aunt Joy at Amphitheater Park.  The boys played in the splash pad while Aunt Joy and I chatted.  We had a great time and loved that park!  Might be my favorite splash pad we've ever been too.  There was a wall of tiny waterfalls splashing down into a downhill sloped, shallow rushing river, with fountains near the end.  And afterward, we went back to Aunt Joy's house for a delicious BBQ.  Thanks so much Aunt Joy and Uncle Mike!

Playing card games is always a favorite thing to do while at Grandma's.  We taught Paxton and Versii how to play Skip-Bo while we were there.  And as soon as Paxton learned, that was all he wanted to do.  He'd keep asking, "When can we play Skip-Bo?"

The boys and I met my good friend Sam and her kids out at Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country.  It was so much fun seeing them again!  We love the Wescott Family!  Thanks for coming to hang out with us Sam!  So good to see you again!

Going on the horse drawn wagon ride.
Sam and I!  I love this woman!

The kids loved feeding the animals!
And they said their favorite thing: the pony ride!
Here is a little video of the kids ride.
We spent the rest of our time in Utah relaxing at Grandma's and playing games with Aunt Gail and Grandma.  The boys had so much fun and we made a lot of great memories.
Thanks for having us Grandma!  We love you so much!
