Versii's Pueblo Project

 May 18, 2016
Verse's class studied several Native American tribes this year.  Each student had to pick a Native American group and built a dwelling model.  Versii chose to do the Southwestern Indians and build a pueblo.  I love his artwork!

Here he is, working on forming and cutting the clay walls.
And, of course, Paxton wanted to make something of his own as well.

He used air-dry clay to form his walls and twigs from our yard to build the ladders.
Gluing together the walls ended up being a little bit difficult, so I glued it up for him.  He painted the walls and glued everything else into place.
He colored his lego snake black and added it to the model.
The Southwestern indians are famous for their colorful hand woven baskets, so I made some tiny baskets for Versii and he helped me design them.  We colored rice green to look like green beans in the basket.

Versii molded and painted the water jug sitting on the roof of the house.
And he made and painted ears of corn for this basket.
The final element he decided to add is the brick lined entrance to an underground food storage area.
We worked on it over the course of several days.  Versii worked so hard to get the details just right and was very specific about the placement of each item.  His teacher was very impressed with how it turned out!
