Oregon Coast

 June 19, 2016
My Aunt Gail and cousin Lizzy flew in from Utah on the 18th.  We took Kaden over to Mom and Dad's Sunday night since he was leaving on a week long float trip with his Grandpa early the next morning.
 Kaden and Lizzy.

Mom and Lizzy before we all left for the Oregon Coast adventure.
Our first stop on our Oregon Coast tour:
Neskowin Beach
We ate lunch at the Cafe on Hawk Creek and it was delicious!
Then we got ready for the beach.  Neskowin beach is one of our favorite beaches.
Lizzy on her phone...I joke with her because she rarely puts it down LOL!

Lizzy's first experience with our chilly west coast ocean.

Touching jelly fish and collecting shells.

The guy in the background: a cute boy Lizzy saw on the beach.  She laughingly called him her "Beach Boyfriend" and so we started referring to him as B.B. for short.
Aunt Gail nearly fell when the tide unexpectedly rolled in on her.  But luckily Lizzy was there to catch her.

Aunt Gail relaxing on the beach.
The kids enjoyed climbing the rocks and playing in the ocean.

B.B. decided to come play in the ocean near the kids and practically stared at Lizzy the whole time.  Also there was some serious showing off...as he even did a backflip for her while standing on the beach.  We were all quite entertained watching the 2 of them.
As he was walking past, we told Lizzy, why don't you say "Hi" or go get his number.  So she got brave, ran up to him and got his number.
I love the smile on her face as she ran back to us number and name: Zach.  (This was all before she talked to her on-again boyfriend who decided he wanted to get back together.  So BB and Lizzy are just going to be friends.)

Tuesday we got up and went to Devil's Punchbowl.

Then we drove to Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.

We walked down to the tide pool area, but it was closer to high tide, so we didn't get to experience the tide pools.

Although there were several sea lions resting all along the rocks.

Our next stop of the day was the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.

We enjoyed watching the sea lions and the sea otter.

This star fish was feeding when we saw it.  We learned that when star fish eat, their stomach protrudes outside their body and they release some kind of toxin that basically causes their prey to liquify and they slurp them up like a "milkshake" as we were told.  So crazy!

We made Lizzy get into the hurricane simulator before she even realized what was going on.  Haha!

They each bought a stuffed animal.
Two seals and a sea lion.
After the aquarium we all went to the theater to see the movie Finding Dory.  It was kind of strange seeing that movie right after seeing the live versions at the aquarium. It was a cute movie.

After we got up and checked out of our hotel, we drove to our last stop: The Tillamook Cheese Factory.  We watched how the cheese is made and packaged, sampled cheese and enjoyed lunch and ice cream.  We all loved the cheese curds the best.  My one disappointment is that I found out they no longer have my favorite ice cream flavor: White Licorice.  I'm so sad!  It was so good!
